While I am very happy with the SMG transmission in my
new M3, I was disappointed that BMW installed the small brake pedal from
the normal manual transmission car. This makes left foot braking difficult
and unnatural. So I decided to fabricate a proper left-foot brake pedal. I replaced the stock SMG brake pedal with the one used in an automatic transmission car, and machined an extension pedal cover for it out of billet aluminum. The results are illustrated below. The pedal works extremely well, and in my opinion should be something that BMW provides for every M3. Note that this design was done as a one-off project and is not being manufactured.
